A proper home inspection can save you from having to deal with a home improvement nightmare in the long run. Here are 5 tips to help you get the most out of your home inspection.

First, Be Present During the Inspection

You will have the chance to hear for yourself what the inspector think of the home and ask a question about things that you don’t understand

Second, Do Not Focus on Minor Problems

Instead, focus on the issues that are in need of extensive repair and will cost a lot of money. 

Third, Hire the Experts

There’s no question that home inspectors are specially trained in recognizing symptoms of defects in a home.

Fourth, Anticipate Problems Not Found During an Inspection

While an inspector is specially trained to thoroughly inspect the home for defects, there is still a possibility that they will not catch everything.

Lastly, Redo the Inspection after Repairs

You might have to ask your inspector to do a home inspection for the second time just to make sure that all the reported repairs, especially the major issues, were taken care of by the seller.

A home inspection can be your best defense from spending your own money on costly repairs in the future.
